Figure 1: depicts a sample water line installation. Using a directional drilling machine, a new water line is installed from the water shut-off valve outside the home into the basement. The machine drills horizontally from the yard, to the depth of the water shutoff valve and is directed with precision under the foundation to the desired location under the basement floor. Once the drill head is guided to the desired location and depth, a small section of the basement floor is removed. The new water pipe is then pulled (using the drilling machine) from the basement to the water shutoff valve.
